Andragogy MA

As you may have been informed from several sources, King Sigismund Business School managed to have its sixth master program, the MA Program in Andragogy accredited in the summer. It is a great success, since no other private college in Hungary has as many master programs as KSBS. Moreover, the MA Program in Andragogy, which had been fully supported by the strict professors of the accrediting body right from the start, was accredited in the first round.

So what will this four-semester study program be like? What makes KSBS unique so that both our own bachelors as well as students graduating from other institutes decide to continue their studies here, either as full-timers or part timers? Since all of our programs are aimed to prepare students for the labour market, the developers of the curriculum (Márta Dovala, László Zachár, Tamás Sulyok and József Jászberényi) managed to include study courses which make our students more “marketable” and give them useful knowledge and practical skills for their future careers. Therefore, the core of the 120-credit, two-year MA program is made up of seminars that focus on law, social theory, as well as empirical social research. Also, the program will include two study tracks – in educational management and geronto-andragogy –, which are offered right from the first semester of the MA program.

Students graduating from the educational management track will be able to

  • fill in positions in businesses dealing with adult learning and in accredited adult educational institutions, especially managerial positions with responsibility for educational activity;
  • develop, manage and evaluate corporate adult learning (retraining and further training) programs (program design in adult learning and curriculum development, designing modular study systems, and developing competence-based curricula);
  • contribute to the work of HR groups in recruiting for the purpose of developing and achieving the strategic and business plans of the company or organization; help internal career management (organizational development);
  • create the context and conditions for lifelong learning in public and cultural institutions; develop informal programs; create, develop and evaluate frameworks and possibilities of informal learning;
  • take part in the work of governmental, local governmental, civil and business organizations concerning the research and analysis of adult learning market segments, professional proposals and decision-making preparation;
  • write and manage national and EU projects supporting training programs at governments, local governments, and civil and business organizations;
  • organize, launch and manage businesses that develop and offer training programs at governments, local governments, and civil and business organizations.

Only KSBS offers a geronto-andragogy study track in Hungary, so those students who complete this track of the program are going to be able to choose from a wide array of positions in various fields. They will be able to

  • organize and provide support, counselling and representation in matters of law, career and lifestyle for over fifties, in order to achieve wider social equality;
  • provide help in life management, mentoring, and counselling in career-building and work – both in normal and crisis situations;
  • create the context and conditions for lifelong learning in public and cultural institutions; develop informal programs; create, develop and evaluate frameworks and possibilities of informal learning;
  • write and manage national and EU projects in the field of geronto-andragogy;
  • organize, launch and manage businesses in all fields of geronto-andragogy.
